Terms of use

Acceptance

stair-calculator.com is a free planning tool. Using it costs nothing and requires no account. By using the site you accept these terms; if you do not accept them, do not use the site.

No engineering or code-approval advice

The calculator is a professional-grade planning tool, but its output is geometry, not a stamped engineering document: it does not constitute engineering or architectural services, and it cannot substitute for a licensed engineer, architect, or your local building department's approval. Stairs are safety-critical structures; a stair built to a miscalculated or non-compliant geometry can injure people. For structural questions or permit sign-off, consult the licensed professional your jurisdiction requires.

Accuracy and your responsibility to verify

Code references on this site describe the International Residential Code (IRC R311.7) as commonly adopted in the United States. Building codes are adopted and amended locally, change over time, and may differ from what is shown here. All output must be independently verified against your local building code and actual field measurements before any construction. We work to keep formulas and references accurate, and we appreciate error reports, but we do not guarantee the content is error-free or current.

No warranty

The site and its output are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Your use of the site is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from use of this site, including construction defects, failed inspections, code violations, personal injury, or material costs resulting from reliance on calculated output.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to disrupt the service, probe or breach its security, scrape it at abusive rates, use the contact form to send spam, or misrepresent the calculator's output as a certified engineering document.

Intellectual property

The site's content, design and code are owned by stair-calculator.com. You are welcome to use, print and share calculation results for your own projects, and to cite our guides with attribution and a link. Wholesale copying of the site or its content is not permitted.

Third-party services and ads

The site displays ads served by Google AdSense and uses the third-party services described in the privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content of ads or of external sites they link to.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date above reflects the current version. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
